Thoughts, Photography Presentation
Less is more. This statement can probably be applied to all sorts of visual appeal. Showing only hints of the actual object in terms of composition creates a sense of mystery and makes the viewers imagine what it actually could be and gives them a certain emotion, whether fear or awe. Also, showing only the best of all your work is the optimal way to sell yourself. Don’t show any mediocre works because if you’re in doubt of your own work, it’s unlikely that they’ll love it.
Variety. No one wants to see the same composition style over and over. Each photograph loses their uniqueness and it will start to get boring. Various styles, when mixed well, makes a good impression: Each photograph will have their own style and at the same time, the presentation as a whole will have a clear characteristic.
Thoughts, Is Photography Art?
Of course, all the post-processing and investing the time to create the look you want is quite an artistic thing. But is it really the same ‘art’ as something like a painting or a poem?
I guess ‘art’ is self-expression and I personally think Photography is art too. You’re the one with the camera, at that specific time and place, with that knowledge and creativity to capture the moment. Obviously, the camera is the one capturing the visual scene, but you choosing to capture that timeless moment is what makes the artist in my opinion.
I photograph certain subjects because I want to create something in my perspective and make it my own to express emotions and to tell a story.
Sharing the photographs with other people is a big part of it too. What’s the use if no one is going to see it?
